About three weeks into 2013, I’ve yet to harness the blogging/academia balance. I’m getting there… but I’m not quite there yet.
Basically, what you’re looking at is Karla and my city/weekend. The hardest part about being a student, is overcoming the length of the week. As you get closer to graduation all you want to do are the things you love, and assignments become deadlines. I know that feeling of fervid verve as the ending of a long semester brings a long-sought, momentary, simmer right before the new semester slingshots you back into overdrive. To people in the same situation, (students): hang tight. Between the long weekends and spring break we should come out of it alive and well with our GPA’s intact.
Keep meeting deadlines, and remember to make time for the things you love. happy hump day.
Peter Som has this simple elegance that is timeless. I love his interpretation of rich fall colors in which he uses some Dark Cacao and Hunter Green solids in these wonderful satin and taffeta textures. I was fascinated with the initial winter white pieces. It made great headway into a new trend that is quite favored this season- prominent white blazers. All in all, there is a simplicity ( not just in texture and color, but in the physical shape as well) I can’t get enough off.
Here is a runway clip from his Fall 2012 Collection
I can’t get enough of Phillip Lim’s “expect the unexpected” attitude, the way he layers the geometry in his clothing, and the balanced patterns.
The Neo-Noire inspiration is praise worthy
I can’t wait to listen to Phillip Lim speak.
Here is a video from the fall runway. He talks a little about the inspiration and concept of the collection.
** trend alert: Be on the look out for the white blazer! Phillip Lim did a good job in disguising it, but it is there. Be wary of an all white, man-repeller-esque-layers, ensemble- that’s the one. The white pants throw you for a loop I suppose.
I’m really pumped. I wish you guys knew how I tremble when I think of TVFU. I’m like a little chihuahua! A fashion oriented chihuahua.. like the ones from those Beverly Hills movies. Yea , I don’t know where this was supposed to go. I just get shaky and I’m small so, that’s that.
I will be posting some clothes that I will be taking soon, but no outfit pictures because that would ruin a wonderful surprise. (I myself don’t generally like surprises, but you might. I think of you reader; I think of you always.)
Well, stay tuned for my Dannijo post! It will be the next post in the prep post series! Happy Thursday!
Their fall 2011 collection is one of my favorites for this season because they have a bright take on earth tones and fall palettes. I am especially fond of the bright plaids.
this one is particularly awesome in all its cool-outfit entirety.
The Creatures of the Wind X Tabitha Simmons shoes!! A present from fashion week. Fact: they are my object of obsession right now. Here is a picture, because you know…
and lastly (this is almost goodbye), this is my final gift to you, reader. I gift you a vimeo video that was gifted to the internet by creatures of the wind themselves. (I am a gift-re-giver, sue me.)
** disclaimer: when entering and exploring the Creatures of the Wind site, be wary of the uncanny resemblance to the Urban Outfitters webpage. I couldn’t catch it at first, but it was there. It’s much in the font. I’d say that the Creatures of the Wind webpage is a minimalist version of UO, much like the older sister who is more mature in her features but still has the same eyes her little sister has.
I can’t believe in three weeks time, I will be sitting before these awesome designers. My little heart is barely holding on.
Stay tuned for more news on the other classes I will be attending!
